Caesars Entertainment Said to Boost Rates on Debt Refinancing

The lawsuit alleged that "AEG came to control much of Jackson's life. The home Jackson lived in was provided by AEG; his finances were dependent on AEG, and his assets stood security if he failed to perform." Those assets included The Sony/ATV music catalog owned by Jackson, which even includes iconic Beatles songs. The verdict "could have a chilling effect on how much micro-management of a star's life companies like AEG and other production companies have," Piazza said. "But the reason the micro-management even exists is to make sure that the celebrities, the talent, is in the best position possible to make money for the production company," she added. That kind of control is the crux of the wrongful death lawsuit filed by Jackson's mother, Katherine Jackson, and his three children. PROFITS AND RISKS In the suit, Jackson's family alleges that privately held AEG Live, one of the world's top concert promoters, negligently hired cardiologist Conrad Murray as Jackson's personal physician and ignored signs that the singer was in poor health. This is because the city has finally implemented a ban on the sale of fur apparel. By the looks of it, this makes West Hollywood the first city in the United States to take such extreme measures against animal cruelty and the fur industry. As was to be expected, animals rights activists were besides themselves with joy when hearing that said ban had finally been implemented. The interesting part is that, according to PETA , some storeowners in West Hollywood also welcomed the decision. We are on board with the ban as we understand the concerns and have realized that there are many other fabrics and fibers that can easily take the place of real fur. We feel that the desire for real fur will lessen over time as more people become aware of the process to which the animals are subject, and I believe more cities will adopt a similar ordinance, David Malvaney, cofounder of Church Boutique, told the press.
Source:

Movie Review: Can Robert Deniro Save ‘the Family’?

In the long run, however, the movie managed to rack up nearly $64 million in ticket sales as of Aug. 28. Thats only $5 million less than 2 Guns, one of the movies that trounced Smurfs on opening weekend, and Smurfs did far better overseas. The original action movie 2 Guns, starring Denzel Washington and Mark Whalburg, received a 64 percent positive rating from professional movie critics on Rotton Tomatoes, a review-gathering website. The Smurfs 2 received a 12 percent positive rating. But Hollywood pays attention to box office numbers, not reviews, and The Smurfs 2 ended up earning more money. Grown Ups 2, the Adam Sandler-helmed sequel that received only a 7 percent positive rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, proved even more financially successful over the long term.
Source:

Sep 13, 2013 4:00am (Photo credit: Relativity Media/AP Photo) Well, if youre going to continue to exploit a tired Mafia stereotype, you might as well do it with the best. Really, though, the idea of seeing Robert De Niro play yet another mobster in The Family taxes my brain. Theres no challenge here for one of Hollywoods most my website gifted film stars. In fact, the only truly brilliant scene in The Family references De Niros place in Hollywoods mob film canon. On the other hand, once you get over the cliche of De Niro as a mobster, hes certainly fun to watch. Movie stars happily flocking to TV (Cliff Lipson / September 14, 2013) Also See more stories X By Mary McNamara, Los Angeles Times Television Critic September 13, 2013, 10:00 a.m. The Berlin Wall was a thing of chicken wire and Kleenex compared with the barrier that once stood between film and television in America. Unlike British actors, who moved easily between stage, television and film, American movie stars were essentially instructed not to bother with TV. Oh, Brad Pitt might guest star on "Friends," but everyone understood that that was just a favor to his then-wife. Anything more was an admission of failure; the trajectory of success went from television to film, not the other way around. As recently as 10 years ago, when "Angels in America" sent Meryl Streep and Al Pacino up the Emmy red carpet in 2004, journalists could not believe their eyes "Is This the Emmys or the Oscars ?" ran far too many headlines. A few years later, stars including Kyra Sedgwick , Sally Field and Holly Hunter took lead roles in television shows, but even then, it was seen as a "female complaint." Women of, ahem, a certain age could not find roles in film and so were forced to, bravely, stoically, with heads held high, darling, find work in (shudder) television. Movie Review: Can Vin Diesel Revive ‘Riddick’?

However, its really just an effort to kill him and if youve seen any of the Riddick movies, you know that things dont work out well for those who try to kill Riddick. Even so, its not like our antihero winds up unscathed. After the failed attempt on his life, Riddick struggles to survive on an unfamiliar, barely habitable planet filled with wild alien dogs, impressively terrifying amphibious scorpion-like monsters and equally unimpressive-looking pterodactyl-like vultures, all on a desert CGI landscape thats a cross between Georges Melies 1902 silent classic A Trip to the Moon and the 1980 cheese fest Flash Gordon. When it comes to politics, however, Penn would be the first inductee, were there a Hollywood Hall of Hypocrites. Penn is an ardent supporter of the current President, which is curious when one considers the open letter that the failed actor wrote to then President George W. Bush in 2002. In kim kardashian magazine cover this letter, Penn criticized Bush for many of the very things that Obama has constantly done since he has been in the White House, as indicated in the following excerpt: intolerance of debate (with us or against us), marginalization of your critics, the promoting of fear through unsubstantiated rhetoric, manipulation of a quick comfort media, and position of your administrations deconstruction of civil liberties In the same letter, Penn lamented the evils of war: Yet, that bombing is answered by bombing, mutilation by mutilation, killing by killing, is a pattern that only a great country like ours can stop. How did that happen? The simple answer is that Hollywood had more mid-range hits than normal this summer, more than making up for the lack of mega-blockbusters. There were some surprise hits, like "The Conjuring" and "The Purge." And there were a string of movies that did very well, even though they didn't quite hit blockbuster range, such as "Despicable Me 2," "Star Trek: Into Darkness," and "Fast and Furious 6." For Hollywood, summer 2013 was a confusing concoction a record season that felt underwhelming. "I'm not sure there are any grand lessons to be learned from this except that you have to throw a lot of stuff on the wall of mass culture to see what sticks," says Robert Thompson, founder of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture at Syracuse University in New York. "Yes, there were no mega-blockbusters, and yes, the movies way down the list at 4, 5, 6 and lower made up for the gap but to translate that into a workable formula is impossible.
Source:
